Action Research Plan---18 Months of My Life

Whew, This is the next 18 mos of my life. I am so excited to see what the results will be!! What actions can faculty take to improve academic vocabulary in the math classroom?  What effects will

  1. I know you concern is the terminology in mathematic for the STAAR test. Have you consider developing a high frequency list of mathematic words that may appear on the test. If you ever worked in an elementary school Kinder- 2nd grade sent home high frequency word cards, so the students could be familiar with the words. If you create something like that so your students would be ready for the STAAR .

  3. @FloCC41, That is a great idea for the high frequency math vocabulary words. A lot of times when people look at the big picture, it is overwhelming. You have broken down your plan in a way that should help reduce resistance, especially since it is teaching that is required anyways.

  4. Put up a Word Wall. Word Walls are not just for reading/writing classes any longer. If these words are visible at ALL times, they become FREQUENTLY read and subconsciously thought about.
    Awesome ideas/plan. I wish you lots of luck and high STARR scores!
